Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Braveheart center-cut tenderloin filet steak, sliced into thin strips

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 red chili, seeded and diced

  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes

  • 1/2 cup beef broth

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 1 lb trompetti pasta

  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Season the fillet steak strips with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the steak strips and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the same skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion, minced garlic, and diced chili pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.

  3. Add the can of diced tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, honey, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine and bring to a simmer.

  4. Add the cooked steak strips back to the skillet and stir to coat them in the sauce. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly, and the steak is cooked to your desired level of doneness.

  5. While the steak and sauce are cooking, cook the trompetti pasta according to the package instructions until al dente.

  6. Drain the pasta and add it to the skillet with the steak and sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta is coated in the sauce.

  7. Serve the steak and pasta in bowls or plates, garnished with chopped parsley or basil.

  8. Enjoy your strips of fillet steak in a chili tomato sauce with trompetti!
