Roast Poutine

This braised beef poutine is the ultimate comfort food! It starts with tender, juicy chunks of braised beef that have been slow-cooked to perfection in a savory sauce. The beef is then topped with a generous helping of cheese curds and crispy, golden French fries. The combination of flavors and textures is truly irresistible!

  • 1-pound Braveheart Bottoms Rounds Flat Roast, trimmed and cut into 1-inch cubes

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 4 cups frozen French fries

  • 1 cup shredded cheese curds

  • Chopped parsley for garnish

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

  2. Season the beef cubes with salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the beef to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until it is browned.

  3. Remove the beef from the pot and set it aside. Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onions are translucent.

  4. Stir in the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and flour. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce has thickened.

  5. Return the beef to the pot and spoon some of the sauce over it. Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and braise the beef for 1 hour until it is tender.

  6. While the beef is cooking, prepare the French fries according to the package instructions.

  7. To assemble the poutine, place the French fries in a serving dish and top them with braised beef and cheese curds. Garnish the poutine with chopped parsley and serve it immediately. Enjoy!
